PROMOTIONS THAT WORK

Smoking Martini Night
While the Sea Grill in Tacoma, Wash., sends out almost every Martini this way unless requested, you might want to try it with one or two on your menu. Dropping a small ice cube of dry ice in a Martini adds not only smoke but fuel to the fire of profits. The dry ice will affix itself almost instantly to the bottom of the Martini glass, ensuring every drink stays extremely cold. Sending just one of these across the bar will have patrons talking.

Logo to Go
Logo’d merchandise has uses not only for added sales but also in selling the drinks themselves in many bars.

“Develop a list of 4 or 5 drinks that automatically and exclusively are served in your souvenir glass this makes both the drink and the glass special. It should be served at one price that includes the drink and the glass. Adding on an extra charge for the glass will greatly reduce your sales because the ‘package price’ has a higher perceived value to your patrons and makes their choice simple and the sale easier for your staff.”

Kentucky Bourbon Week
The Kentucky Bourbon Festival runs from September 13-17 in Bardstown, Ky. For your patrons who won’t be attending it, create your own version at your establishment. Work with bourbon suppliers to create something special, with a bourbon tasting and promotional giveaways.

Another option is to hold a drawing or giveaway of a travel package to the festival.
